Suggested Pokemon TCG Staple Cards For Your Deck
Staples are the suggested cards that every player should have in their deck. Many of these cards allow for draw support (to get the cards that you need out) and help your deck become more consistent when your battling other players. Opinions vary when it comes to staple cards that are to be used in your deck. Players must think of strategies of the cards in their decks that will complement or work well with each other.
Every year, a rotation of some Pokemon TCG card sets rotate from the Standard format into an Expanded Format. This is to keep the game fresh and exciting.

The standard rotation for the 2018 season took effect on September 1, 2017 (US) and the sets that have left the Standard format are Primal Clash, Roaring Skies, Double Crisis (mini set), and Ancient Origins. Standard will consist of the sets Breakthrough and on.
For Staple cards, this means the following cards that have left the Standard Format are:
